A Perfect Day for Play

It has been months since I last used my camera. It took me some time to recall the manual settings before I finally started shooting. My models? Of course, my two charms. The location? Our neighbor’s playhouse.

We’re still in the middle of the cold season but the sun is up and we are happy!

If we ever decide to buy a house here in Sydney, it will not be without a playhouse. My kids just love it!

Getting a wee bit tired from all the running around.

Following his sister’s lead.

Almost ready to go home.

“Bye, playhouse!”

Small Victories

Last night marked the first time that our kids slept in their very own beds.  We still co-sleep, as in share the room (yea!), but my daughter no longer shares our bed and the little one graduated from his 3 in 1 cot.  However, I didn’t get a good sleep last night.  I think I kind of missed squeezing for space with the hubby and my not-so little girl.  I was also worried that both kids slip out of their thick blankets and feel cold through the night.  I felt a bit scared, too that my son will fall from the bed.  So I was there, hour to hour, like a hawk watching them all sleep.  I hope tonight turns out to be better (for me!) as the kids seemed to like their new “prince” and “princess” beds.

A Good Break

Our Easter holidays turned out to be a fruitful and restful break for our family.  The first three days were happy-busy with our two-night stay in Canberra.  The fourth day was focused on our to-dos for our home, like fixing busted bulbs, sorting old clothes and finally buying a new bedroom suite.   And today, being our last holiday break, we spent it relaxing at home.  Thank you, Lord for the gift of this five-day holiday.

Pink Ballerina

A loves pretend play so much. She can be a hairdresser, a princess or a ballerina, all in one day. Her favorite dress-up prop is that pink ballet outfit from her Aunt C. She’d wear it any time, even to church if I would let her. That shows how much she loves pretending to be a ballerina girl.

Busy Hands

One afternoon, A proudly showed me a playdough-version of herself.  Her dad helped with the hair bit but the little girl did everything else.  Her imagination and creativity just blow me away.

Back on Their Feet

What an eventful week it has been. Our kids took turns in getting sick and that meant sleepless nights for me and the hubs.  Thankfully, the virus seemed to have gotten bored in our household and has decided to leave after a week of unwelcomed visit. Both the kids are now back on their feet, active as they have always been.  Hopefully next week, we’d be able to maximize the holidays and go to our planned outings.

Isaiah at 18 Months

My youngest child, Sy (pronounced as “Sai”), is almost 18th months old now.  He is growing up beautifully.  He is always active, running around, climbing on chairs and sofas, kicking and throwing balls around.  He surprises us with new words day to day and loves to make funny (really cute!) faces.  He likes to watch the Wiggles, Hi-5, ABC and nursery rhyme videos and Brooke Fraser’s latest songs.  He could be Brooke’s youngest fan!  He hearts Dr. Seuss’ books and lots of colorful picture books.

There are days when he gets along well with his sister, all hugging and being really sweet with each other.  And then there are days when he just wants to grab whatever his sister is playing with!  I love it when my husband and I reach home, the hubby from work and I usually from an errand, and Sy would just run to the door with his arms wide open, reaching for a hug.  He enjoys blowing kisses, too.  He seems to be as affectionate as his sister.

Hope Like an Anchor

When I think of how I can be a very protective parent to my kids, I am reminded of how much more the Lord is with us, His children.  He would never want us to have a miserable life or to feel that we are alone in this world.  All we need to do is anchor our lives in Him.

“We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.” ~ Hebrews 6:19

A Little Girl No More

We were at A’s school yesterday for the Parent Information Night.  The school principal from nearby Ryde Public was invited to give a talk about child readiness for big school, their kindergarten program, etc. After the talk, I felt so overwhelmed. I wondered while listening to the principal if my daughter is indeed ready for the big shift — to a bigger school, to a more structured form of learning, to a full 6-7 hours at school, five days a week.

But the last thing I want to do is hold her back.  ((Sigh)) I need some time to digest all the changes that are inevitably creeping in our lives.  My kids are growing up so fast.

Polaroid Love

I’ve long been wanting to own a Polaroid SLR680 but I never got around to seriously hunt for one.  Then one day, while I was checking out free ‘Polaroid-generator’ Photoshop actions, I found an action series by Raw Image.  They are pretty good.
